search_tools
Finds your API's operations by keyword, in search mode. With hundreds of operations, listing every tool fills an agent's context before it starts. In search mode the agent finds the few it needs here, reads them with describe_tool, and runs one with call_tool.
When it's listed
In search mode: when the tool mode is search, or auto and the server has more operation tools than the search threshold (40 unless you change it). They replace the operation tools in the list. See search and code mode.
Arguments
querystringWhat the operation does, in a few words, such as create invoice. Matches names, descriptions, paths and groups.
groupstringOnly operations in this group, from list_tool_groups. Offered only when the operations fall into two or more groups.
limitintegerHow many results to return, from 1 to 25.
offsetintegerSkip this many results, to page through a long match.
Returns
How many operations match, then a line each, best first: name, method and path, summary, required arguments, and whether a call asks the user first.
Hints
The annotations a client reads to decide what may run without asking the user.
| Hint | Value | When true, it means |
|---|---|---|
readOnlyHint | true | It doesn't change anything |
openWorldHint | false | It reaches outside the server, over the network |
