call_tool

Runs one of your API's operations by name, in search mode. This performs the real API call, with every rule the operation's own tool would have: its permission, approval, limits and error guidance. An operation that asks first asks the user before the call is sent.

When it's listed

In search mode: when the tool mode is search, or auto and the server has more operation tools than the search threshold (40 unless you change it). They replace the operation tools in the list. See search and code mode.

Arguments

namestringrequired

The operation's name, from search_tools.

argumentsobject

The operation's arguments, matching the schema describe_tool showed.

Returns

The request line with its status, then the response body. A failed call returns the error with a guide to fixing it, and a declined approval says the user declined.

Hints

The annotations a client reads to decide what may run without asking the user.

HintValueWhen true, it means
readOnlyHinttrue when every listed operation reads, else falseIt doesn't change anything
destructiveHintthe oppositeIt can change or delete data
openWorldHinttrueIt reaches outside the server, over the network

Examples
