$249
a month for docs and SDKs in all ten languages on Octri Business. Scalar Business is $600 with one SDK.
4 in 1
Docs, SDKs, an MCP server and monitoring on one subscription, at no extra cost.
Octri writes your reference from the spec: every field explained, every error documented with its cause and fix, the call through your own SDK on every page, and a changelog that updates itself. A custom domain, MDX guides, Git sync, AI chat, PDF export and a hosted MCP server are on every plan, Free included.
SDKs come in TypeScript, Python, Go, Java, Kotlin, Ruby, PHP, Rust, Swift and Dart, all generally available and bundled into the plan. Then Octri keeps going after release, with error reporting inside every SDK, uptime checks, a status page on your domain, and logs and traces for your API.
SDKs, docs and monitoring, head to head

Only on Octri
8 features you will not find in Scalar’s site or docs.
Error reporting inside every SDK
A failure in your users’ apps reaches you with the SDK version, language and method, tagged to the release.
Uptime checks and a status page
Checks generated from your spec, incidents on a status page on your own domain, and a banner across your docs.
Logs and traces for your API
Follow one failing call from a user’s app into your handler, with latency targets per route.
A changelog that writes itself
Every spec change becomes a dated entry of endpoints added, removed and changed, with breaking changes flagged.
An error guide for every status code
Each endpoint lists the errors it can return, with what causes each one and how to fix it.
SDKs shaped in a studio
Client shape, method names and file layout per endpoint, with the generated code redrawn beside each change.
PDF export
Any page of your docs, saved as a clean PDF for readers who need it offline or in a review.
Tools for any agent framework
The MCP tool list exports in MCP, OpenAI and Anthropic formats.
Ten languages, in the plan
Octri bundles SDK languages into each plan, up to all ten on Business, and every one of them is generally available.
Octri generates TypeScript, Python, Go, Java, Kotlin, Ruby, PHP, Rust, Swift and Dart. Every client comes with typed models and typed errors, auth from your security schemes, retries with backoff, pagination, idempotency, server-sent events, multipart uploads and webhook signature checks, and lands in its repository as a pull request on every merged spec change. Publishing to each language’s registry is on every plan, Free included.
The Free plan includes one language, Starter 2, Growth 4 and Business all ten. A language past your bundle is $50 a month on Starter and Growth, so a team publishing in six languages pays for a plan and two add-ons, and the price stays the same as the API grows within the plan’s endpoints.
SDK Studio sets client shape, method names and file layout for the whole project, one language or a single endpoint, with the generated code redrawn beside each change. An optional test suite and an optional CLI with a subcommand per endpoint are generated alongside, and custom code arrives on Growth, kept through each regeneration by a normal merge in a repository you own.
A reference that arrives already written
Octri writes the reference from your spec, then keeps it current as the spec changes, starting on the Free plan.
Every endpoint gets a page with a description, every request and response field explained, and each error documented by status code with its cause and fix. Each page shows the call through your own SDK in every language you publish, with a playground beside it, and every spec change becomes a dated changelog entry with breaking changes flagged, without anyone writing it.
Guides are MDX in a visual editor on the published page, with Git sync, a custom domain, password protection, full-text search, an ask-the-docs chat, llms.txt and a markdown copy of every page for coding agents, and PDF export, all on every plan, Free included.
An MCP server on every plan
Every Octri project has a hosted MCP server from the Free plan up, built from the same spec as the docs and SDKs.
Octri’s MCP server has seven tools for reading your docs (search, one endpoint in full, the endpoint list, guides, the changelog, your SDKs and the call in your own SDK) and one callable tool per endpoint, which makes the real request. Endpoints you excluded from your SDK get no tool, so the SDK settings double as the agent’s permission list.
It runs locally over stdio with credentials kept on the developer’s machine, or as a shared SSE server for a team, and the tool list exports in MCP, OpenAI and Anthropic formats. Every spec change updates the tools with the docs and SDKs.
Your SDKs, reporting back
Because Octri generates the client, it can instrument it. That is the part of the product that keeps working after an SDK ships.
Every Octri SDK carries an error reporter. It ships switched off, and the developer who installs your SDK turns it on with one option. From then on a failure in their application reaches your project with the SDK version, the language, the method and the status, grouped into issues and tagged to the release that introduced it. Credentials and personal identifiers are redacted inside the SDK before anything is sent.
Your API is watched too. Uptime checks are generated from the endpoints in your spec, an incident publishes to a status page on your own domain and to a banner across your docs, and backend packages in ten languages add logs, traces and latency targets per route.
- Alerts for new issues, regressions and thresholds, to Slack or any webhook
- No third-party observability vendor in the path; data stored in the United Kingdom
- Monitoring ingest is never cut off at the allowance, so a bad day’s errors still arrive

Moving from Scalar
The move starts from two things a Scalar project already has: the OpenAPI document its reference is built from, and its guides as Markdown and MDX.
How the move works
Stage 1
Bring the spec
You
Upload the OpenAPI document from your Scalar registry, or connect the repository it lives in.
Octri
Writes a reference page for every endpoint, with the playground, search and chat switched on.
Stage 2
Bring the guides
You
Paste your Markdown and MDX into the editor, and pick your SDK languages and package names.
Octri
Generates every SDK from the same spec and shows the call through it on each endpoint page.
Stage 3
Go live
You
Publish each SDK under its existing package name, then point your custom domain at Octri.
Octri
Regenerates docs, SDKs and MCP tools on every merged spec change, and starts the uptime checks.
Which should you choose?
Choose Scalar
Choose Scalar if you want an open-source reference you can run inside your own application, or a desktop API client for your team.
Choose Octri
Choose Octri if you want docs your readers can rely on from day one. Octri writes the reference from your spec, documents every error with its cause and fix, shows the call through your own SDK on every page, and keeps a changelog that updates itself, with a custom domain, MDX guides, Git sync and AI chat on every plan. Your SDKs come in ten languages, all generally available, with the languages bundled into the plan.
Then comes the rest of the subscription. A hosted MCP server whose tools call your API, error reporting inside every SDK, uptime checks with a status page and a docs banner, and logs and traces for your API, all at no extra cost.
Questions
Scalar includes one SDK on every plan and charges $150 a month for each extra one up to 100 endpoints, or $600 for 101 to 250. Octri includes 2 languages on Starter, 4 on Growth and all ten on Business, and a language past the bundle is $50 a month.
