Octri

Spec sync

Spec sync decides what happens when Octri notices your spec has changed. One update can reach your docs, SDKs, MCP server and monitoring, and you choose whether it goes out on its own or waits for you.

Find it in Project settings, under Spec sync.

When we detect an update

SettingWhat happens
PublishDetected changes are published to your docs and SDKs as soon as Octri sees them
DraftDetected changes are held as a draft. Readers keep seeing today's docs until you publish
NeverDetected changes wait for you. Octri tells you an update landed and changes nothing until you choose
Choose Draft for a public API

Draft lets a new spec arrive on its own without anything reaching readers until someone has looked at it.

How Octri sees a change

There are two ways an update can arrive without you uploading it.

GitHub. Connect the repository that holds your spec and turn on Auto-sync. A push that changes the file brings in the new version. See GitHub sync for the docs pages that can follow the same repository.

Daily spec watch. If your spec lives at a URL, Octri fetches it once a day and imports it when it has changed. The first check runs within the hour. What happens next follows the setting above. This needs the Growth plan or higher.

Hearing about updates

The spec.update_detected webhook event fires when an update lands, so a Slack channel can say so even when the setting is Never.

From the CLI

Connecting a repository, syncing now and turning auto-sync on all work from octri github.
